Villages at Blackshear

The Villages at Blackshear serves a special purpose in Affordable Housing. This housing is designed specifically for persons aged 62 and older. This housing is also designed and available to persons with disabilities. The Villages at Blackshear are located at 940 Ware Avenue, in Blackshear, Georgia.

Villages at Blackshear is located just a short distance from the Pierce County/Blackshear Parks and Recreation Park. Also within walking distance or a short drive, residents can find shopping, dining, medical services, places of worship, and other residential services.

This property was originally constructed in the 1970's as 100% Section-8 housing. In just a few short years (1981), renovation was needed and took place. Then, by 2012, renovation and expansion were needed to create apartments that were large enough to fill current occupancy needs. A view of some of the "before" photos will demostrate why their condition called for renovation.

Demolition and reconstruction (including the much needed additions to each apartment) began in late 2013 and was completed by January, 2015. Each apartment was completely gutted with additions being made. Also, the interior floor plan was adjusted to to make the apartments more functional and inviting.
